Fuck "The Disaster Artist"

A big corporate movie about an indie hit? "Ed Wood" for hipsters.

The Room is one of my favorite films and its cool that this will definitely bring it attention, it will be negative attention to serve this Hollywood-sponsored idea that "low budget films are garbage" and The Room was an accidental success based on exploitation of an inept idiot savant.

I'm basing this only on a trailer and James Franco's comments directed at Tommy Wiseau. There's two things to remember: The Room was clearly edited and marketed as a comedy by its distributors. I don't need a film to explain this or deny this for a dishonest laugh. And secondly, Wiseau is much more unique, clever and positive for film than James Franco, a fucking Warren Beatty wannabe who never made a great film.

True, Wiseau is deluded about or oblivious to some of the negativity Americans have towards him but he's also in on the joke and letting them exploit him so he can get more publicity for his message. I hope the right attention comes to his movie because it is a misunderstood and staggeringly personal vision by a guy with really weird, original & yet classic ideas about entertainment. Tommy is a bizarre man with a Johnny Depp complex, but I prefer that to a medium talent parodying him for hipster points and a quick buck.
